18 Inch Gauge Hunslet 0-4-0 WARIL CLASS - SAND HUTTON
We are now taking orders for a small production batch of ready to run locos for delivery the second half of 2025. Orders will be filled in the order they are received.
During World War I, the War Department needed 18-inch gauge locomotives for the supply depot at Deptford on the Thames. Hunslet Jack served as the basis for the design of twelve oil-burning locomotives, which were supplied in 'khaki all over' under the contract code name Waril. After the war, Sir Robert Walker purchased four of these locomotives for the Sand Hutton Light Railway on his family estate.
This locomotive is provided in a weathered khaki version which is gauge adjustable (32mm and 45mm), available as gas or coal-fired, and can be fitted with optional extras such as a working steam whistle, 3 channel radio control and SSP Slomo. Please order these through our Accessories page.
